Quick Service Retail (QSR)

TransNational understands the importance of reducing both transactional fees and transaction times for any establishment with a low average ticket.

Signature-less/contactless processing will not only save your business considerable amounts of money, but also allow you to process nearly three credit transactions in the same amount of time as one cash sale.

  • No-signature transactions – in order to encourage the purchase of small items at a faster pace, credit card companies are increasingly permitting consumers to simply swipe or tap (see contactless cards) their card to pay for low ticket items at QSR’s such as pharmacies, fast food eateries and convenience stores  (across 17 merchant categories) – no signature required.
  • Respondents cited convenience, efficiency and speed as key factors behind their payment choices.
  • Participating merchants include Starbucks, Walgreens, Dairy Queen, 7-Eleven and Domino’s Pizza.
  • Contactless cards – What is a contactless card?  This is a credit card with a mag stripe and a microchip embedded in the card’s plastic.  The microchip is fitted with a radio antenna that is capable of transmitting the card’s data to a card reader without physical contact.
How does it work?  The consumer waves the contactless card in close proximity to a specially equipped terminal.  The card communicates payment account information wirelessly to the terminal via radio frequency.  Participating merchants include McDonald’s , Chevron, Chicago Bears, and the White Sox.
